McGREGOR ROCKS
THREE SERIES OF 6 PAINTINGS
This series of paintings was inspired by hikes taken while visiting friends up in McGregor Bay. A favoured destination in northern Georgian Bay for the Group of Seven as they portrayed these iconic trees and dramatic skyscapes.
Exploring the landscape was an emotional journey using colour, line, texture and shape in an attempt to express the sublime.
Washbowl (series of 6)
The Washbowl formed by undulating waves of white granite is located on Blueberry Hill. The rocks with grid-like veins are covered with yellow green lichen and cushions of moss providing ample textures and colours to the palette.
McGregor Rocks (series of 6)
Strong shapes of white granite with deep crevasses meet where tectonic plates collided. Native sites evoke a sense of history. They are awe inspiring in the present and offer contemplation of the future… a spiritual and meditative space.
Casson Mountain (series of 6)
This land was purchased from a mining developer by a group of individuals with an appreciation for this unique landscape where A J Casson painted. Many thanks to these stewards.
